Indian clean energy start-up ReNew Wind Power has secured just over $200m in financing from Goldman Sachs as it looks to build out a portfolio of wind projects.

According to a statement seen by Fox Business, the company has set development aims of operating between 200MW to 300MW of additional wind power plants to reach an eventual target of 1GW by 2015.

It is said to be currently developing a 25MW wind farm in the western state of Gujarat and a 60MW facility in Maharashtra.

According to a statement on the company's website, ReNew Wind Power was founded by Sumant Sinha, who is now the CEO and chairman.

The company said it is now positioned itself in the renewable energy market with the intention of producing clean energy.

'ReNew Wind Power's mission is to play a pivotal role in meeting India's growing energy needs in an efficient, sustainable and socially responsible manner,' it said.

It will also look to expand its operations into alternative energy sources such as biomass and hydropower in a number of diverse locations.

'[We have] built a highly qualified team with significant operating expertise who deeply understand the dynamics of the renewable business,' its website said.
