TechPrecision, which manufactures large-scale machined metal fabrications with customers in the alternative energy sector, has received its first order to produce thin-film solar panels.

Details of the deal have not been disclosed but TechPrecision said the first prototype is expected to be shipped by the end of 2010 with production units anticipated during 2011.
James Molinaro, CEO of TechPrecision, said the order further diversifies the company’s poly-si solar equipment products with thin-film.
‘Thin Film solar technology is the second largest volume technology in the solar market, after only poly-silicon, and this initial order gives us entry into another growing segment of the industry,’ he said.
‘This order is a natural extension of the precision manufacturing process for which we are so well known and recognised. It demonstrates our customer’s confidence in our ability to deliver a product to meet exacting requirements that integrates fabrication, machining, and assembly capabilities into the final product.’
TechPrecision, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Ranor, ,manufactures products for a range of markets including energy, defence and aerospace.
