Danish power company Dong Energy has sold its 50 per cent stake in Norwegian wind developer Nordkraft Vind for NOK145m ($26.5m) to Nordkraft Produksjon. Dong said the size of its operation in Norway no longer requires a strategic focus on expansion in that market.

Nordkraft Vind operates the Nygardsfjellet 1 6.9MW onshore facility and is constructing the 25.3MW second part of this development. Dong will provide technical support for this second stage. In July, Dong decided to opt out of the Midtfjellet wind farm but still has ownership interest in two wind projects in Norway and the development company Zephyr. In June last year, Dong sold its 33.3 per cent stake in Nordkraft to a company in the Troms Kraft Group.

Last month, Dong finished construction of the Walney 1 offshore project, a huge 183.6MW development in the Irish Sea. In the same month it partnered with French energy company EDF in response to an invitation to tender by the French government for offshore developments worth a combined €10bn.
