The Ampere Equity Fund, managed by UK renewable investor Triodos Investment Management, has acquired 50 per cent of the Carraig Gheal Wind Farm, which has a total capacity of 46MW.

The wind farm is located in the Argyll and Bute region of Scotland and is being developed by GreenPower International.

Preparation of the construction works has already begun and the wind farm is expected to be commissioned in late 2012.

Joris van der Geest, chief investment officer of the Ampere Equity Fund, said, 'We are pleased with this new partnership with Green Power that has resulted in the fund's second investment in the UK wind energy sector. This high quality wind farm is a further diversification of our portfolio of equity investments in onshore wind, offshore wind and solar photovoltaic projects across Europe, which will generate long term stable returns for our institutional investors.'

A statement by Triodos said together the fund managers and GreenPower were jointly negotiating senior debt financing for the project.
