3TIER, a company specialising in renewable energy information services, has released third quarter wind performance maps revealing higher than average wind speeds in North America and normal to below average wind speeds in Europe, with the exception of the UK.

In Europe, a high-pressure system over Russia caused depressed wind speeds all across most of central and northern Europe.  But isolated regions such as the UK, southern Sweden, and the Mediterranean coast saw wind speeds ten per cent above average.
Kenneth Westrick, CEO and founder of 3TIER, said, ‘We can assess with a high degree of accuracy, what the performance of a project or region will look like over a 40 year period… Banks, developers, and financial stakeholders look to 3TIER and its sophisticated information services to provide an independent and objective quantification of the potential resource in order to understand the long-term risk, and to maximize power production and profitability.’
Wind speeds reached more than ten per cent above average across a wide band in North America reaching from Texas to eastern Canada.
3TIER is an US-based company providing wind, solar and hydro energy assessment and power forecasting worldwide.
