Delaware-based renewable energy company Ameresco and the Massachusetts State Department of Energy Resources (DOER) have collaborated to finance and operate solar power systems on five state facilities.

The project will see the facilities receive solar electricity at a discount range under 20-year power purchase agreements with Ameresco.
The discounted prices will be made possible by the Massachusetts Solar Stimulus Program, which uses federal stimulus funds to reduce the capital cost of the projects.
The solar systems will be installed on the roof-tops of two Massport Logan Airport terminals, Bridgewater State College, Worcester State College and the Canton Housing Authority.
George Sakellaris, who is CEO of ten-year-old Ameresco, said, ‘In addition, we support green job growth in the Commonwealth as Ameresco utilises local Massachusetts engineers, electricians and other trades people to design and build the systems.’
The solar inverters for the project will be produced locally, the company said.
