Amtech shares rise after record 2010 solar orders hit $157m

Tempress Systems, the solar power-focused subsidiary of global automation and solar product supplier Amtech Systems,has secured about $37m in new orders for its diffusion processing solar power systems from new and existing customers in Asia.

These orders bring Amtech’s total orders, including those of its subsidiaries, to a record $157m for fiscal 2010 to date, which began last October.
JS Whang, CEO of Amtech, said, ‘These latest orders further demonstrate the quality and depth of our expanding solar customer base, and our ability to provide excellent product and service to the industry.
‘We believe the intense effort by our customers and the solar industry to increase cell efficiency will continue to drive demand for our superior diffusion technology. We continue to see excellent quotation activity and remain focused on continued successful execution of our solar growth strategy.’
The company’s shares rose by $1.31 or 9.2 per cent, to $15.58 after the company announced the orders yesterday, according to Associated Press.
