The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has appointed Naomi Baum as chief operating office and Ethan Rogers as senior manager.

They will be responsible for running the organisation's study on industrial energy efficiency.

Baum worked most recently as executive director of the congressional oversight panel, a bipartisan group created to oversea the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program.

She has worked for more than 20 years in the US Senate, covering a wide range of policy issues.

Rogers joins the organisation from the Purdue University Technical Assistance in Indiana, where he managed an industrial energy efficiency and sustainable manufacturing workforce training and implementation project.

Steven Nadel, executive director of the ACEEE, said, '[Baum] brings a wealth of management experience and a broad policy background to ACEEE. She is a proven leader and strong communicator, with a reputation for getting things done.

'She combines diplomacy and creativity, superior project management skills, and excellent analytical skills that will help advance our energy efficiency work.'

Neal Elliott, associate director for research at the ACEEE, added, '[Rogers'] real-world experience working with managers in Midwestern manufacturing plants will strengthen ACEEE's industrial programme.

'His deep knowledge of industrial efficiency opportunities and management experience will be critical to our efforts to address growing interest in industrial energy efficiency.'
