Danish wind energy company Vestas has received an order in Finland from TuuliWatti for ten turbines.

The units will be used for a 30MW project to be located in the Trevola, Lapland. Delivery is scheduled for September with installation expected to be complete by March 2013.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a six-year management agreement.

Klaus Steen Mortensen, president of Vestas Northern Europe, said, 'This order is proof of the continuous expansion of wind power in Finland and provides benefits for local Finnish economies and local Finnish suppliers. It also shows the trust Vestas has received from TuuliWatti for yet another V112 project, giving us a leading position in the Finnish market for renewable energy.'

Jari Suominen, managing director of TuuliWatti, added, 'The Tervola wind power plant will be located 50km away from the sea side. The advanced turbine technology developed by Vestas enables us to build genuine inland wind power plants in Finland. Together with wind power plants under construction in the municipalities of Simo and Ii-Olhava, this new project means an increase of one third to the current wind power capacity in our country.'

Vestas is currently engaged in a restructuring process to cut costs, which could result in more than 2,300 redundancies.
