European engineering giant Skanska has invested €51m in a green office project in the centre of Warsaw, Poland.

The installation, dubbed Atrium 1, is set to be the most environmentally- sustainable office building in Poland, the company said.

It has been LEED Platinum pre-certified and features a number of elements that will help reduce its impact on the environment.

Solar energy will be used in the project, with photovoltaic panels installed on the building's double-skin façade, equipped with external blinds to minimise the heat intake.

In addition, storm and grey water will be stored and reused.
