UK renewable energy consultancy Natural Power has been contracted by Eneco to be the owner's engineer at the Lochluihart wind farm in Scotland.

Natural Power will perform construction management services, ecology and hydrology for the onshore development. It will act as construction design and management coordinator for the venture, liaising between the balance of plant contractor, turbine manufacturer and grid provider.

Once complete, the facility will consist of 17 turbines provided by Siemens, each with a 3MW capacity.

John Dykes, project engineer at Natural Power, said, 'We are very pleased to be working with Eneco on the development and construction of Lochluichart wind farm. There is a close working relationship between the broad-range of disciplines within Natural Power which enables all teams to work together to the highest standards, continually providing effective project management for clients.'

Guy Madgwick, a director at Eneco UK, added, 'Lochluichart wind farm marks an important step for Eneco in bringing renewable power to the Scottish Highlands and we are pleased to be working with Natural Power on the project. We already have a very successful relationship with Natural Power having worked with them previously on Tullo Wind Farm and look forward to continuing this during the construction of Lochluichart.'

In October, Natural Power was selected to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment for a 905MW offshore wind farm to be located off the coast of Scotland.
