French renewables developer Akuo Energy has purchased two solar farms in Gard region of France with a combined capacity of 5.89MW from an unnamed seller.

Since 2008, the Akuo Group has invested more than $1bn into the development, construction and acquisition of solar, wind and biomass facilities. The company's investment fund SICAR financed most of the projects, with other funds advised by Akuo Investment Management.

Eric Scotto, CEO of Akuo Energy, said, 'Given the tough economic context during the past four years, we are very happy and proud to have achieved the group's first financial milestone.'

In July, German photovoltaic (PV) developer was contracted to build two solar plants with a combined capacity of 12MW in the south of France.
