Danish wind energy company Vestas has received an order for turbines with a combined capacity of 59MW from Exelon Wind for a development in Michigan, US.

The deal includes delivery and installation as well as a ten-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery of the 33 units is scheduled for the middle of next year with the facility expected to be operational towards the end of 2012.

Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas US, said, 'We are very pleased to be working with Exelon Wind to bring more clean energy to Michigan. The V100-1.8MW is well-designed for the wind speeds of this area.'

This is the second order that Vestas has won in the US this month after First Wind contracted it to supply turbines for two projects with a combined capacity of 139MW.

Exelon Wind is a subsidiary of the utility Exelon whose shareholders recently approved a merger with fellow US utility Constellation Energy.
