Danish wind energy company Vestas has been contracted by First Wind to supply turbines with a combined capacity of 139MW for two projects in the US.
The 104.4MW Palouse Wind farm in Washington state will consist of 58 1.8MW modules with the 34.2MW Bull Hill facility in Maine featuring 19 of the same units. Contracts for both orders include a ten-year service and maintenance agreement with deliveries scheduled for the middle of next year. Both projects are expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas in the US, said, 'We are very pleased to be working with a new customer, First Wind, to build two US energy projects. The V100-1.8MW is proven technology that's well-designed for wind speeds of this area.'
At the end of last month, First Wind completed installation on a 40MW wind farm in Vermont and purchased 30 turbines from Siemens for a project in Hawaii.
