By announcing the “Green my Apple" campaign earlier this year, Apple responded to accusations brought by Greenpeace that the company still wasn’t meeting standards imposed by the organization. As an answer, the Mac maker not only introduced its new initiative, but also launched greener products, including a less power-hungry Mac mini.

By making its products more recyclable, removing toxic materials and now proving that it can make fast and energy-efficient computers too, Apple has not only fired back the proper way, but also made the world a better place. Or so thinks sust-it, a company whose business is focused on energy consumption. Its website ranks over 5,000 electrical products by their energy efficiency. Apple's Mac mini models take sust-it's top 4 spots in the in-use power-consumption chart.

“Apple’s Mac mini has shot to the top of sust-it energy efficiency charts for computers,” the official press release reads. “Having been slated by Greenpeace in 2006, when they launched their ‘Green my Apple Campaign’ Apple has responded by making their products more recyclable, removing toxic materials and now proving that they can make fast and energy efficient computers too.” Apple itself touts the newest Mac mini as being “the world’s most energy-efficient desktop computer.”

The site’s proprietor, Ross Lammas, says in a statement that, “There’s a staggering difference between the energy consumption of computers in the marketplace; you could save nearly £150 per year on electricity in choosing the most efficient models. We’ve been highlighting these savings through our unique ranking system and it’s great news that Apple has responded to the environmental issues, I hope other manufacturers will follow their lead.”

Users of the website can spot the exact appliances that contribute to their inflated electricity bills and CO2 emissions, sust-it claims, by browsing through the 5,000 + electrical products by their energy consumption and efficiency. “You could save over £600 a year by buying energy saving products,” sust-it asserts.
