Austrian cleantech developer Activ Solar has completed the installation of the largest photovoltaic (PV) plant in Eastern Europe, an 80MW development in the south of Ukraine.
The Okhotnykovo power plant is part of the country's Natural Energy project launched in 2010 which aims to add 2GW of green energy to the grid. It was launched by the state agency for energy efficiency and conservation which has a target to produce 30 per cent of the Ukraine's energy from alternative sources by 2015.
Activ Solar recently opened a new office in the Ukraine capital Odesa to serve the local market.
Kaveh Ertefai, CEO of Activ Soar, said, 'Project of this scale means a radical change of solar energy development in Europe, while securing Ukraine's position as renewable energy provider.'
