Danish wind energy developer Vestas has received an order from E.ON Climate & Renewables North America for turbines with a combined capacity of 99MW.

The company will supply 55 of its 1.8MW units for the Anacacho wind farm in southern Texas. The contract includes delivery and installation as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled to begin in mid-2012 with the facility expected to be operational by the end of the year.

Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas-American Wind Technology, said, 'We look forward to partnering again with E.ON, a leading global wind-power developer and operator, to build another wind energy project in 2012. We already employ about 150 people in Texas in running wind power plants and technology research. As a result of this project, we expect to create a number of additional full-time service and maintenance positions in 2012.'

Earlier this month, Vestas acquired technology assets from radar specialist OCAS which is designed to warn aircraft pilots if they fly too close or in the path of a wind turbine. It was also contracted to supply 36MW of modules to Swedish power company Eolus Vind for seven projects in Sweden.
