Martifer Solar has been contracted by a company managed by BNP Parabas Clean Energy Partners to construct a 22MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in Portugal.
Under terms of the agreement, Martifer will be responsible for engineering, procurement and installation of the facility which is due to be operational in the first half of 2012.
Henrique Rodrigues, CEO of Martifer Solar, said, '[This contract] demonstrates Martifer Solar's capacity to attract foreign investment towards the Portuguese renewables sector, despite the current difficult economic juncture. These 22MW will be the first of a total of 33MW to be built by Martifer Solar in South Portugal; I'm sure that these projects will bring relevant benefits for this region, both economically and environmentally.'
In February, Martifer won a contract to construct rooftop solar arrays at 14 locations throughout nine states in the US.
