Danish wind energy specialist Vestas has received an order for turbines with a combined 36MW capacity from Swedish power developer Eolus Vind.

Vestas will supply and install 18 units for seven projects in Skara, Kristianstad, Munkedal, Ulricehamn and Hallsberg in the south of Sweden. Commissioning of the facilities is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2012. The order is part of a framework agreement signed in July that will see Vestas deliver turbines with a generational capacity totalling 180MW over a three-year period.

Gustaf Ekberg, CEO of Eolus Vind, said, 'With this first order within the framework agreement, we would like to acknowledge our close cooperation with Vestas. Vestas' organisation and project execution is of great importance to the success of our business.'

Krister Poole Jonsson, vice president sales of Vestas Northern Europe, added, 'We are very pleased to have finalised another transaction with Eolus Vind and we are looking forward to a continuous good partnership.'

In September, Vestas won a 40MW order from Central American country Nicaragua and also began construction of a 100MW project in Chile. In the same month the company was contracted to supply turbines for a 26MW development in Apuila, Italy.
