Global conglomerate Zamil Industrial has won a $68.5m order to deliver a 20MW solar plant in the Indian region of Gujarat.

The contract was won by the company's local unit with the order placed by PLG Photovoltaic.

According to Construction Week, Zamil will act as project manager, supplying designs and drawings, civil and structural engineering services.

Also involved in the deal are Japan-based Kyocera and PowerOne, an Italian solar specialist.

The region has been experiencing a boost to its solar industry of late with the Asian Development Bank committing to providing a $100m loan to the state to speed the roll-out of large-scale solar power plants.

This capital will also give the go-ahead to a key transmission project which will be vital in integrating intermittent renewable power supplies.
