Enel Green Power has completed the installation of a 5MW wind farm on the Greek island of Crete bringing the company's installed wind capacity in the country to 186MW. The small six turbine facility is the latest in a series of projects for Enel which also operates a hydro electric power station in Greece.

Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power, said, 'Greece is actually showing a high level of interest in the renewable sector. We are pursuing further growth as well as strengthening our position in this country through an additional 40MW wind, hydro and photovoltaic projects in execution.'

Enel Green Power has recently announced first half revenue of €1.3bn, a 28 per cent increase on the same period in 2010 and last month connected Italy's largest solar farm to the grid. The 160MW photovoltaic facility is on the island of Sicily and is being operated by 3Sun.

Earlier this month Enel announced its intention of investing €400m for the development of clean energy resources in Chile.
