US wind developer the Wind Capital Group has contracted clean energy specialist RMT to design and construct a 150MW facility in Osange County, Oklahoma, in the west of the US.

RMT will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services of the civil and electrical infrastructure to support the installation of 94 General Electric (GE) 1.6MW turbines. The civil engineering includes construction of roads, crane paths and pads, turbines foundations and site restoration.

The electrical side involves building a 34.5kV underground collector system, a substation and a 138kV transmission line. RMT is also responsible for tower erection, in-tower wiring, mechanical turbine completion, testing and inspection of the site.

Ciaran O'Brien, CEO of Wind Capital, said, 'As we move forward on the Osage County Wind Energy Facility, we are pleased to partner with RMT, who has an outstanding track record on similar projects and who we know will adhere to our high standards. Having worked with RMT on several projects, we have confidence in their ability to meet our expectations and to complete construction safely, on schedule, and under budget.'

David Kutcher, chief commercial officer of RMT, added, 'RMT is pleased to add Osage County to the growing list of projects we have completed for Wind Capital Group. With this project, Wind Capital Group takes another significant step toward being one of the leading owner-operators of wind energy generation facilities in the US. We are excited to be a part of that growth.'

At the start of this month, Wind Capital contracted GE to provide 228 turbines for this development and another project in Kansas.

RMT was contracted to construct two wind energy projects in the US for Toronto-listed renewables company Western Wind Energy at the start of this year.
