Global energy company Vestas has been contracted to supply wind turbines with a capacity of 92MW for two wind projects in the north of Spain by subsidiaries of the Vapat group Bruilles Eolica and Cyl Energia Eolica.
Vestas will install and commission a combined 46 units at the two sites in Burgos. Vestas will also supply monitoring equipment for the developments and in addition has agreed to a 12-year service arrangement. Delivery is expected to begin shortly with the projects scheduled for completion in the first quarter of next year.
Miguel Picardo, general manager of Vestas Iberia, said, 'It is very positive for the Spanish wind industry that companies continue supporting the development of wind even when the market is still lacking long-term visibility. This is the reason why companies developing large wind projects, such as Vapat, choose to work together with strong and reliable technological partners who are able to provide business case certainty. We are pleased that once again Vapat has selected Vestas as their preferred turbine and service supplier for this important wind investment in Spain.'
Vestas recently opened a new manufacturing facility and service centre in Brazil and received turbine orders in India and Asia from an undisclosed buyer.
