UK renewable energy insurance provider GCube has expanded its underwriting organisation through a partnership with South African underwriter C&G.

The partners are set to make $595m in underwriting capacity available to South Africa’s renewable energy industry.
GCube Underwriting has also made two new hires to its New York office that will bolster the group’s capabilities in the renewable energy underwriting sector.
It has notably hired former vice president of Aegis Insurance Services, Michael Durning, as executive vice president of client relations and business development.
Another strong recruit for the group is the hire of Aegis Insurance Services senior property underwriter Al Caceres, who will head up the firm’s underwriting practice as senior vice president.
‘[Durning and Caceres] are recognised leaders in the insurance and power generation communities. They will contribute significantly to helping GCube maintain our leadership position in financial services and technical expertise in renewable energy,’ said John McLane, GCube Insurance Services’ president.
McLane said that Durning will spearhead the company’s business development and expand its relationships with brokers, while Caceres will lead its account management teams.
