Solar module manufacturer Silfab has signed a deal with Agris Solar to provide equipment for its portfolio of installations totalling 9.3MW, which will benefit from Canada’s feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.
Silfab will begin supplying the order of up to 30,000 modules this month, and will continue until April 2012.
Under the FIT, a certain percentage of the equipment must be manufactured locally and along these lines the company has just inaugurated its new manufactility facility in Mississauga, Ontario.
‘With Agris Solar we have found a partner of great quality, that considers photovoltaics from not only an economic perspective, but also from an environmental and social viewpoint,’ says president and CEO of Silfab Ontario and Silfab Franco Traverso.
‘We are therefore particularly proud to be contributing actively with Agris Solar to the implementation of many projects throughout the Ontario that will spread the value of solar energy, letting the reliability and validity of the photovoltaic solution be made known not only in MW solar farms but also in small plants.’
Agris Solar began construction of the first 10kW of its microFIT systems in early February and will continue to build them throughout the year.
