Bruce Sohn, president of operations at US solar major First Solar, is standing down and will not be replaced, the company has said.

Sohn, 49, joined Arizona-based First Solar as president in 2007 and was named president of operations in February 2011.
He received compensation of $3.06m in 2009, according to Forbes, including a cash salary and shares in the company. Before joining First Solar he spent 24 years working for chip manufacturer Intel.
‘Bruce and I have taken stock of his considerable achievements and we have agreed this is a natural time for him to pursue new opportunities outside the company,’ said Rob Gillette, CEO of First Solar.
‘We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.’
First Solar is the world’s largest solar power company by market capitalisation and specialises in thin-film technology, which is less efficient but cheaper than conventional photovoltaic cells.
