Investment firm ESB Novusmodus has led a €20m financing round into on-site windenergy generator Wind Energy Direct.
The funds will be used for the development of on-site projects across Ireland and the UK, adding up to 75MW of wind generation capacity. A spokesperson for ESB Novusmodus told NewNet the company specifically targets energy-intensive consumers such as factories and hospitals.
Wind Energy Direct is said to be planning to invest €100m in projects over the next three years.
Michael Aherne, of ESB Novusmodus, said Wind Energy Direct’s offering has both economic and environmental potential.
‘Wind energy Direct will allow Irish businesses to maximise the opportunity for auto-generation and for exploitation of their wind and land resources with a well funded, expert developer.’
Wind Energy Direct offers their clients the opportunity to lock in their energy costs at today’s energy price levels for a set period of time, thereby breaking the link with inflation.
Dominic Costello, managing director of Wind Energy Direct, said, ‘The development of our pipeline of projects will lower energy costs for our customers, hedge them against the volatile energy market, help reduce Ireland’s emissions, create ten new jobs immediately bringing the Wind Energy Direct team to 20 and create over 80 indirect jobs.’
