BP Wind Energy has begun construction of the Sherbino 2 Wind Farm in the US state of Texas, which will have a generating capacity of 150MW.

The wind farm is located in Pecos County, about 40 miles east of Fort Stockton in west Texas.
It will expand across 20,000 acres and generate enough electricity to power 45,000 average homes in the US. The wind farm is 100 per cent owned – and will be operated by – BP Wind Energy
The Sherbino 2 will utilise 60 Clipper Windpower C-96 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 2.5MW.
The wind farm is expected to be in commercial operation by the end of the year.
The power output from the wind farm will be delivered into the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas transmission system and sold on the wholesale power market.
The balance of the plant contract has been awarded to Mortenson Construction of Minneapolis.
President and CEO of BP Wind Energy, John Graham, said, ‘BP Wind Energy is pleased to be expanding its footprint in the state of Texas – the leading state in the US for installed wind power capacity.
He continued, ‘The investment we are making will create new jobs during construction, deliver an additional revenue stream to rural communities and provide affordable power. [The] announcement is an important milestone for the landowners, county officials and many others in Pecos County who have continued to support this project throughout its development.’
