Power conversion technology developer AEG Power Solutions has strengthened its solar photovoltaic (PV) engineering business through the acquisition of Spain-based PV integrator OpciónDos.

The PV industry has reached a level of maturity that makes now a prime time to grow through acquisition, according to AEG’s financial adviser on the deal, Eclareon.
David Pérez, a partner at Eclareon, said, ‘The PV industry is consolidating. This transaction confirms the good moment to acquire valuable players.’
AEG Power Solutions plans to expand in the built-in PV market in the US following the acquisition, a spokesperson for the company said.
Madrid-based solar integrator OpciónDos has developed expertise in integrating PV technologies into the built-in environment and rooftop installations. The company already has a string of major clients including Ikea, La Coruña and landmark Spanish shopping centre La Vaguada.
AEG marketing manager Enrique de la Cruz, said, ‘As we are growing rapidly on the solar market, it’s essential for AEG Power Solutions to also strengthen our team.
‘OpciónDos also opens for us a strategic market segment we had started to develop in the US but not yet in Europe: built-in Photovoltaic solutions. This also creates synergies with our product portfolio of solar inverters and monitoring and supervision systems in high-end industrial and commercial applications.’
