Edison International subsidiary Edison Mission Energy has closed $255m in debt refinancing to fund its Viento II wind energy portfolio, which includes three separate wind projects in three states.

The company said the refinancing package consists of a $227m term loan facility that matures in ten years, together with ancillary credit facilities of $28m for debt service reserve, working capital and project letter of credit requirements.
The Viento II portfolio includes a series of Wildorado projects in Texas, which have a gross generating capacity of 161MW.
The portfolio also includes the developer’s 120MW San Juan Mesa project in New Mexico and the 81MW Elkhorn Ridge project in Nebraska.
Edison Mission Energy said it closed the original financing for its wind portfolio in 2009. The group has a total portfolio of 29 projects in operation or under construction in ten states, with a total generating capacity of more than 1.8GW.
