UK vertical axis wind turbine manufacturer quietrevolution has secured £5m in project financing from cleantech-focused asset manager Hazel Capital that it said will enable it to deploy its qr5 turbine.
The wind company expects to more than double its UK wind turbine installations with the new funding, which provides for at least 150 turbines.
Its Welsh-manufactured qr5 turbine, which has a compact rotor design, has low noise and vibration output and is controlled with remote monitoring.
Maeve Hurley, CEO of quietrevolution, said, ‘This represents another leap forward in our growth and is a clear indication of the mounting demand for distributed generation.’
With its vertical axis turbines well-suited to high levels of turbulence, the wind company said the financing will enable it to locate its technology at prime wind locations across the UK.
Hazel Capital partner Christian Yates said, ‘The UK feed-in tariff scheme presents an enticing opportunity for investors to get good returns in the growing renewable energy market.’
