Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order from energy utility E.ON for the delivery of 22 2MW turbines for installation in the UK.
The turbines, with a total capacity of 44MW, will be constructed in Tween Bridge Moor in Doncaster.
Klaus Steen Mortensen, president of Vestas Northern Europe, said the new contract in the UK was a very important step for Vestas in further developing its position in the wind power market.
‘E.ON is one of the most experienced players in the energy sector and we are happy to contribute in fulfilling their targets of clean and sustainable wind power energy,’ Steen Mortsensen said.
‘The V90-2MW turbine model is designed for low and medium wind speeds, which is perfect for the area of Tween Bridge Moor. This project will create many job opportunities during construction as well as long-term positions to be filled for maintenance of the wind farm.’
Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to be complete by February 2012 and also includes the supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines.
In addition, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system will be provided and a five-year service agreement.
