Power major Siemens Energy has teamed-up with solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer Suntech Power to deliver PV projects in partnership around Europe.

The companies said they have already planned the supply of PV modules under the umbrella agreement for several projects on the continent, inking a framework agreement outlining the terms of their tie-up.
The partnership will combine Siemens’s engineering, procurement and construction solutions for PV plants together with its global reach, with Suntech’s manufacturing capabilities.
Siemens Renewable Energy PV president Martin Schulz said, ‘With Suntech we have a bankable partner to provide reliable photovoltaic plants to our customers.’
‘Siemens’s global presence facilitates joint projects in Europe as well as in other parts of the world,’ said Suntech Europe president Jerry Stokes.
Siemens said it has secured orders for PV plants with a combined capacity of more than 80MW in the last seven months, across six countries.
As a contractor, Siemens handles the turnkey construction of solar power plants, combining in-house components such as inverters with independent and local panel sourcing. The partnership could, therefore, open up deals with local PV panel manufacturers in Europe, or leave room for a third manufacturing partner.
