UK-based renewable energy project developer Renewable Energy Generation (REG) has been given the go-ahead to construct a two-turbine wind farm at Orchard End in Lancashire.

REG has secured planning approval that allows it to install two wind turbines with a tip height of up to 125-metres on the site after the discharge of planning conditions.
The company said it expects to complete the project in the company’s next financial year, due to start in July 2011. REG’s last trade on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday was over £0.43 on a market capitalisation of £45.43m.
Andrew Whalley, CEO of REG, said, ‘The planning appeal success at Orchard End is welcome news. REG will be moving forward with the discharge of planning conditions as speedily as possible in order to start project construction.’
REG operates a wind power business split between Cornwall and Bath, which operates nine wind projects in the UK with a total capacity of 37.15MW, and has a large development pipeline of 560MW.
The company also operates a bio-power business based in Nottingham, UK, which operates an electricity generation plant fuelled by waste vegetable oil.
REG is headquartered in Jersey and was admitted to the AIM market in 2005.
