Industrial group Able has received regional approval to construct a £400m Marine Energy Park at Able Humber Port that it touted earlier this year, which is expected to produce a wealth of jobs to the region, reports said.

North Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee has reportedly approved plans for a logistics centre on the South Humber Bank that will include a business park, transport depots, warehouses and storage areas.
Able said earlier this year that the development will cover around 1,987 acres with river frontage of over two and a half miles.
The development will include road and rail links to nearby ports and the Humber Sea Terminal, with a large part of the site providing landscaping and provision for wildlife and ecology.
The approval is subject to more than 50 different planning conditions, including a recommendation to, ‘protect species, landscape and improve biodiversity’. The North Lincolnshire Council said the application must now go to the Secretary of State for Communities and local government to decide whether or not he wishes to intervene in determining the application.
If not, then the application will be referred back to the council, who will then approve it in accordance with the recommendations and conditions agreed by its planning committee, the council said.
Able UK has already invested £50m on the existing Able Humber Ports Facility for the storage of vehicles for manufacturers.
Mark Kirk, head of North Lincolnshire Council, said, ‘Without a doubt this is the largest application ever presented to this council that will create thousands of jobs for local people.
‘The decision today marks a significant step in realising the enormous economic potential of the South Humber Gateway…The South Humber Gateway is of huge national and international importance. It is the UK’s fastest growing ports and logistics centre and is ideally located close to two international airports, with excellent road and rail links – making it a gateway to Europe.’
