Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) has published an invitation in the Financial Times calling for strategic partners for its mooted €600m solar project, which could be the world’s largest if it goes ahead.

Profitable companies with average net assets above €500m are eligible to express an interest, PPC said.
They also need proven experience in running solar-powered stations and have funded projects worth more than €300m.
The 200MW project is to be built in an area previously used for coal mining near the giant Kozani coal-fired power station in the north of the country, which currently produces 40 per cent of Greece’s electricity.
Prime Minister George Papandreou said the solar park symbolised the country’s drive to change its development model and attract investment.
The Greek economy has been contracting since 2008 and must contend with bond yields seven per cent higher than Germany’s.
