European project developer Statkraft has entered into long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with two independently owned wind farms in Scotland and Wales.

The agreements, which last up to 15 years, mark the launch of Statkraft’s Renewable Power Purchase business in the UK.
The company said both wind farms have secured bank debt finance and encompass the purchase of electricity and renewable benefits.
Asbjørn Grundt, executive vice president, head of market operations and IT at Statkraft, said, ‘Statkraft’s ambition is to be the leading renewable energy company in Europe, and a driving force for renewable energy in the UK.’
He added, ‘As well as developing onshore and offshore wind farms, Statkraft’s standing, values and pedigree allows us to offer bankable power purchase agreements to independent generators in the UK.’
As well as offering both short- and long-term PPAs, Statkraft also offers route to market arrangements under both the Renewables Obligation and the feed-in tariff.
