US company First Solar has appointed as Georges Antoun as chief operating officer with responsibility for manufacturing, research and development, quality and product management.

 

Antoun joins the company from Technology Crossover Ventures, where he served as a venture partner.

Prior to this, Antoun was head of product area intellectual property and broadband networks at electronics giant Ericsson.

Jim Hughes, CEO of First Solar, said, '[Antoun] brings a depth of operational leadership experience that will help First Solar execute its strategy.'

First Solar recently got the go-ahead to commence work on the 230MW Solar Ranch One project in Los Angeles County.
