US solar developer Cenergy Power has completed installation of a 472kW solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop array for a Ready Roast Nut factory in Madera, California.
The system covers around 70,000 square feet roof space and is designed to offset more than 90 per cent of the building's cold storage electric usage, predicted to save $5m in utility bills over the next 25 years. Conergy will provide operations and maintenance services at the site for ten years.
Audrey Maring, business development at Ready Roast Nut, said, 'Our new solar PV system is one of many investments Ready Roast has initiated to work as a collaborative partner with our customers to help achieve mutual sustainability objectives. We believe it is our commitment to our customer, employees and community to reduce our environmental impact.'
Dave Wissing, director of operations at Ready Roast Nut, added, 'Timing could not have been better since we are anticipating our energy demand to increase due to the energy loads from our new cold storage capacity.'
