Wind to Power System (w2pS ), a Madrid-based provider of products and services for renewable energy grid integration, has appointed David Tuohy as CEO.
w2pS is a portfolio company of Hudson Clean Energy Partners, a private equity firm that invests in the renewable power, alternative fuels, energy efficiency and storage markets.
'David's exceptional knowledge of the energy sector and passion for clean energy and energy efficiency situate him at forefront of this industry,' said Neil Auerbach, co-managing partner of Hudson Clean Energy Partners. 'We're thrilled to have him join our global leadership team and steer w2pS toward its full growth potential.'
Tuohy has held senior management positions at multiple companies, including two Dutch energy utilities, Nuon and Eneco. He also worked previously as interim CEO for a solar PV technology start-up in stealth mode and a member of the board of directors of Ecostream, a European solar EPC company. He is also a non-executive director of Holland Container Innovations, a Delft University spin-off developing sustainable solutions for the transport sector.
'Hudson's financial strength and network in the clean energy sector provide a strong foundation for the company's ambitious expansion plans in China and further afield,' said Tuohy. 'Renewable energy power quality and grid integration are the biggest problems facing the global energy system. w2pS offers unique solutions for wind, solar and storage, and I look forward to working with some of the best power electronics engineers in the world to address this challenge.'
