Australian renewable energy company CBD Energy in collaboration with joint venture AusChina has purchased a proposed 100MW wind project in New South Wales, Australia, from the UK's RES Group.

The planned development in the Southern Highlands is called the Taralga wind farm and has permission to build 61 turbines, it was reported in Bloomberg. Construction on the site is expected to begin later this year with operation scheduled for 2013.

The AusChina consortium is made up from Chinese companies Datang Renewable Power and Tianwei Baobian Electric as well as CBD which has a management role. The partnership was established in April and plans to invest A$6bn ($6.3bn) developing and acquiring renewable energy projects in Australia.
