US technology giant General Electric (GE) has been contracted by project manager the Wind Capital Group to supply 228 turbines with a combined generating capacity of 350MW for two US wind farms.

 

The Osage project in Oklahoma will use 94 1.6MW turbines and electricity from the facility will be sold to distributor, the Associated Electric CoOps. The other development in Kansas will be comprised of 134 1.5MW units and will supply power to Westar Energy. Delivery for both projects is scheduled in the first half of next year.

Last month, GE revealed its second quarter sales saw a drop in orders for turbines by more than a quarter compared with the same period in 2010.
