Solar module part supplier Sanyo Component Europe’s newly-developed high efficiency photovoltaic modules qualify for the UK feed-in tariff (FIT) subsidies.
The modules have gained MCS accreditation, as such qualifying for the subsidy system, and include the company’s new N series.
Sanyo’s N series includes its 240W module, which became the world’s most efficient crystalline-based silicon module last year with a top efficiency of 21.6 per cent.
The developer’s 20.8 per cent efficiency HD type module also falls under the umbrella of the new subsidy-qualifying accreditation.
Sanyo said the HD modules will become available in March, while the N modules are already in production.
Both the module models will be produced in its Hungary factory, which will have doubled its capacity to 315MW in the next couple of months.
Since the launch of the UK FIT last April, the country saw 42MW of added solar installations by the end of 2010, representing a tenfold increase on 2009.
