India’s Suzlon has reportedly signed a $1.28bn order from the domestic unit of Caparo Energy to supply up to 1GW of wind turbines for the country’s growing renewable energy sector.
The order is to supply turbines for wind farms to be located in India by March 2013.
Caparo Energy India will set up the wind farms in two phases, the WSJ said.
The UK branch of the developer listed on London’s AIM market in October 2010.
The order will include a number of various turbine modules such as the S88 and S9X.
Earlier this week, Suzlon’s Brazilian subsidiary won an order from Martifer Renováveis to build, operate and maintain a 218MW project in the states of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, further bolstering its order pipeline.
