Arizona-based First Solar has secured final permitting permission for its planned 230MW AV Solar Ranch One project in Los Angeles County, California.
In December, the county’s Board of Supervisors unanimously rejected an appeal against the development. Legally, parties have 30 days from the date of such a decision to initiate legal proceedings.
No legal actions were filed, meaning construction will now begin later this year, and the project is expected to be complete in late 2013.
First Solar specialises in thin-film solar modules and is involved in both manufacturing and installation, including project finance.
It is collaborating with Guangdong nuclear on the planned 2GW Ordos project in China and supplying three projects totalling 50W in Canada.
