Capping a flurry of New Year orders, Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a purchase of 19 of its V90 turbines from developer Boreas Energie for a project in Germany.
The 38MW order follows a larger 50MW order for its V90 model that Vestas won from China-based Hebei Construction Investment New Energy Company on Friday.
Vestas is due to deliver the turbines under the latest order to the German project by the end of the year under a supply, installation and commissioning agreement.
The company is also due to deliver 17 of its newest wind turbine model, the V112, to another Germany customer for the WindparkGroßEilstorf by the end of the year; fulfilling a separate order the company received last week.
As is customary for Vestas, it has also agreed to provide its VestasOnline Business Scada technology as well as long-term maintenance services, to Boreas.
‘Vestas has shown great flexibility and an excellent understanding of our needs on this project,’ said Boreas Energie managing director JörgKuntzsch.
Vestas ended 2010 with record sales in North America, following no sales in the region the previous year.
Yet despite the positive start to the New Year, the wind turbine manufacturer’s shares fell 2.7 per cent to $10.25 at the end of last week.
