Silfab Ontario has appointed the previous CEO of Canadian solar grade silicon manufacturer 6N Silicon, Paolo Maccario, as its new COO and general manager.
Maccario will take over operations at Silfab Ontario, the Canadian subsidiary of photovoltaic cell manufacturer Silfab, in early 2011 as the company enters a crucial phase of development that will lead up to the inauguration of its new 180MW module manufacturing plant.
‘Maccario brings the ideal mix of leadership experience and photovoltaic know-how to Silfab Ontario as we move forward on installing the first production line in our new manufacturing facility and proceed on hiring our first production specialists,’ said Silfab Ontario’s president Franco Traverso.
The company has already signed preliminary contracts for 102MW of solar products and Maccario’s appointment is expected to further accelerate the Canadian subsidiary’s growth.
‘I believe [Maccario's] outstanding set of skills will be pivotal to accelerating Silfab Ontario’s growth and productivity in the years to come,’ said Traverso.
With 15 years of experience as CEO of global automotive and clean-tech organisations, Maccario served as president and CEO of specialty metal product manufacturer Meridian Technologies, in addition to holding a senior management position at Fiat.
Since 2001, he has also served as the president and chairman of Team Italia, an association aiming to bring together Italian companies and their executives operating in Canada.
