Yorkshire, UK-based, roofing company IPS Rubberfuse has launched a solar division, K2Solar, to provide on site solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for commercial and residential properties.
The company said it has set up K2Solar to respond to demand following the introduction of feed-in tariffs (FIT) for small-scale renewable energy projects in the UK earlier this year.
‘Under the FIT scheme energy suppliers have to make regular payments to building owners who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as photovoltaic panels,’ said Peter Bowers, director at K2Solar.
‘Energy suppliers then make regular payments for all electricity produced by a certified renewable system and for any unused electricity which is exported to the grid.’
IPS Rubberfuse said its expertise in roofing puts it in a strong position to offer turnkey services integrating conventional roofing with PV panels.
