juwi Renewable Energies, a subsidiary of renewable energy producer juwi Group, has established an office in Birmingham, UK and plans to construct solar plants exceeding 60MW in capacity starting in 2011.
Juwi plans to be completely self-sufficient, handling everything from land acquisition to plant construction through its in-house expertise. In addition, juwi will complete a number of turnkey projects in which the company acts as general contractor for the design, engineering and construction of free field and roof-top solar installations
Contribution of solar energy to the national energy supply is expected to reach two per cent, or 6,000MW by the year 2020.
‘If the conditions remain that positive, we will create a large number of sustainable jobs in the UK. At the moment, we plan to hire approximately 60 people until the end of 2012,’ said Daniel Parsons, business development manager at juwi Solar.
This is not the first international market entry in 2010 for juwi and so far this year, the project developer has entered into the Slovakian, Bulgarian, and US markets.
