The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on Thursday said it will implement many of the recommendations made by a world body of scientists to prevent it from repeating blunders such as the Himalayan meltdown. The Panel’s decision to accept and action recommendations of the InterAcademy

Council, which were extremely critical of the Panel’s alarming climate forecasts, was taken at its annual meeting in Busan, South Korea. “These (the IAC recommendations) will strengthen the IPCC and ensure it is able to effectively perform its role in accurately assessing climate science,” said the Panel chief Rajendar K Pachauri.
But the Panel did not say which of the recommendations were to be accepted, as some of them pertained to leadership positions at the Panel. “Operating under the public microscope the way IPCC does requires strong leadership... enthusiastic participation of distinguished scientists,” study head Harold T. Shapiro had said in August.
